I still remember the moment…I was stuck in traffic on the way to a work event in Queens. I put on Tempest, my body tense with anticipation. Would it be good? Which Dylan would we get? Master craftsman or slapdash provocateur? Two songs in, I found myself just listening. Completely relaxed. Without thinking about it or over-analyzing every last word and sound. I knew then it was a masterpiece!
Haha, amazing. I think my favourite thing about Tempest is that it is a real mix of the two - master craftsman AND slapdash provocateur! I love that old time parlour music intro on Duquesne Whistle that kicks off the album. Definitely a good driving album!
Great piece. As a fan of Taylor, Joni and Bob (and others you mention here) it's good to see them being evaluated together and in context.
Thanks, Richard - I'm glad you think so. I loved your recent piece On Dreams and Songs!
What a great article
Thank you so much!
so you agree, she’ll be getting her Nobel next?🙂↕️ great read as always, proud of you xoxo
Haha we'll have to go back to Stockholm to see her collect it if she does! Thank you, I love you ❤️

Awesome Matt! I love seeing Bob and swift on the same line.
Thanks, Pat! Couldn't refuse the chance to compare them when I saw they'd both released an album that year!
